what is an elopement?
I know an elopement wedding used to be thought of as a bride and groom running off together without telling any family or friends.
However, the definition has changed so much since then! Whereas before it was something that was hush hush and somewhat frowned upon, an elopement now just means that you want to tie the knot in an intimate setting with just you and your lover or in a small gathering of close friends and family.
Elopements are the new cool wedding thing and I’m so here for it. Whether you want to get married on top of a mountain or on a boat in the middle of the ocean, I will follow you there and capture those special moments you and your partner share.
Whatever you vision is, I want to hear about it and make it a reality.
Elopements are typically much smaller than intimate weddings!
While intimate weddings typically have 20-50 guests, elopements have under 20 guests or none at all.
Because of the guest list size, it's more common for intimate weddings to have a more traditional venue, whereas elopements are free to happen anywhere in the world & usually, in the great outdoors
what is the difference between an elopement and an intimate wedding?
How is an elopement experience different from that of a more traditional wedding?
Traditional wedding: referring to a wedding with a sizable guest count, typically in the hundreds. Larger weddings like these usually have similar events and timelines that follow some sort of tradition.
With elopements, you are free to follow or unfollow traditions. Your day is not wrapped around entertaining and hosting guests, but instead it's about celebrating your love without the all the distractions & hustle and bustle of a big event.
Elopements are very intentional and intimate events with a handful of your closest and dearest loved ones. or no guests at all.
In my (very biased) opinion, elopements are much more memorable than larger events. And it's not because they mean more - every marriage is sacred. I say this only because those who elope are able to have the time they need to soak everything in & be totally present on their big day.s
What does a typical elopement day look like?
Great question! However, there’s not really only one answer because there’s no such thing as a “typical elopement” — that’s the unique thing about them!
I can say that at some point every elopement will have these things — exchange of vows or devotions to one another (excuse me if I cry during this), but other than that, the day is yours and I am down to do whatever you want to do on this day! That’s why elopements are so freaking cool! You truly have the freedom to create your own perfect wedding day story. It can be as laid back or as adventure packed as your heart desires!
